Becoming Unsettled
(Special to The Times) WELLINGTON, July 9. The following is the special South-, land forecast issued by the Meteorological Office:— Northerly winds. Weather fine at first, ’ut becoming unsettled later from trie west. Slowly rising temperatures. Seas slight, but increasing on the West Coast. Following is the Dominion forecast:— Weather fair to fine over most of the country. Some further showers at first, however, in the Gisborne region and unsettled conditions beginning to develop in the southwestern portion of the South Island tomorrow. Frosts agair tonight, but temperatures gradually rising. General Situation.—An anti-cyclone, which is almost stationary covers the New Zealand area, while a depression is advancing on to the south Tasman Sea from trie west.
Winds— Decreasing southerlies in the north, light and variable in the central districts and ' gradually freshening northerlies in the south. Seas (New Zealand waters).—Rather rough at first between Hawke’s Bay and East Cape. Slight or moderate elsewhere, but rising later in the southwestern portion of the South Island. Eastern Tasman Sea.—Freshening northerly winds and rising seas in the southern portion. Light variable winds and slight seas in the central and northern portions. The weather in Invercargill yesterday was again brilliantly fine. The day was calm. At 1 o’clock this morning there was a sharp frost, the weather being clear and calm. Trie barometer readings for tlie last three mornings have been as follows:— This morning (falling) 30.27 in. Tuesday 30.32 in. Monday 30.35 in.
