BOOKS DESPATCHED TO CAMPS

MORE THAN 1800 SENT FROM SOUTHLAND A total of 1833 books and 692 periodicals has been sent to military camps in New Zealand from Southland. Reporting on the work carried out the city librarian (Mr H. B. Farnall) stated that at the request of the National Patriotic Council the Invercargill Library was made the Southland centre for the collecting of books and periodicals to be despatched to the various camps. Up to the present 1833 books and 692 periodicals had been collected, sorted and forwarded to Christchurch for distribution. In addition, 100 volumes were sent to the Gore military camp and numerous bundles of books and periodicals placed on the trains conveying men to Burnham.
