WINTON MAYORALTY

MR WALKER’S RESIGNATION STANDS Mr T. Walker, whose resignation from the office of Mayor of Winton was tendered, at the last meeting of the Borough Council, has advised a deputation of council members, who urged him to reconsider his decision, that he regretted he was unable to accede to their request. The deputation made several suggestions with the object of relieving Mr Walker of some of his duties for a few months, and expressed the hope that he would carry on to the end of his present term in May of next year. Mr Walker said be appreciated the sentiments expressed about his services, but he had given the matter serious though and was unable to reconsider his decision.

The appointment of a successor to Mr Walkei 1 will be considered at a meeting of the council. The Deputy-Mayor is Cr N. Metzger.
