WEDDING

ANDERSON—PATERSON The wedding took place at the Presbyterian Church, Winton, recently, of Margaret Findlay, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs T. E. Paterson, Longfield, Hokonui, and Basil Douglas, eldest son of Mr and Mrs Hugh Anderson, Brookdale, Hokonui. The Rev. K. G. Mackenzie performed the ceremony and Mr Wilson played the organ. The church had been decorated by friends of the bride. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a slim fitting frock of magnolia satin and lace. The bodice of lace was made bolero fashion finished with a Peter Pan collar and the back was trimmed’ with small satin buttons from neckline to waist. The long fitting lace sleeves were pleated at the shoulder and finished with small satin buttons at the wrist. The satin skirt had godets of lace finishing with a long satin train with two insets of lace flowers. Her embroidered silk tulle veil which- fell from a coronet of orange blossom and lilies, was worn over the face on entering the church and fell to form a second train. She wore creme silk lace stockings (which had been worn by her mother on her wedding day 30 years ago), creme shoes and gloves and carried a sheaf of arum lilies, friesias and maidenhair fern. Misses Grace and Jean Paterson, sisters of the bride, were bridesmaids. They wore frocks of titian blue and cerise rose pink georgette respectively. The bodices were ruched from shoulder to waist, and lovers knots , defined the square necklines and they had high double puffed sleeves. The skirts were very full and were finished with Swiss sashes. The head-bands were of pink and blue forget-me-nots, with large

net bows at the back centred with blue flowers. They wore silver sandals and carried shower boquets or carnations, abutilions, chrysanthemums and asparagus fern. The best man was Mr Bruce King, cousin of the bridegroom and the groomsman was Mr Struan Anderson, brother of the bridegroom. The ushers were Messrs T. Paterson, Rex Anderson and John Hamilton. The guests adjourned to the Radio Hall where they were received by Mrs T. E. Paterson. She wore a model teal green frock trimmed with silver quilting, under a teal coat, with hat and accessories to match. She wore a shoulder spray of abutilons and maidenhair fern. Mrs H. Anderson, who assisted, wore a Venice blue ensemble under a mole fur cape with brown accessories to match. She wore a shoulder spray of cyclamen and maidenhair fern.

While the register was being signed a duet was sung by Mrs H. MacDonald and Miss King. During the breakfast songs were sung by Messrs W. and A. Henderson and Mrs H. Macdonald played the accompaniments. For travelling the bride wore a storm blue suit, navy Breton sailor hat with navy accessories and a Coney fur coat, the gift of the bridegroom. The bride’s gift to the bridegroom was a travelling rug. Mr and Mrs B. D. Anderson’s future home will be Brookdale, Hokonui.
