Fair To Cloudy

(Special to The Times) WELLINGTON, June 28. The following is the special Southland forecast issued by the Meteorological Office: — Winds varying between south and west, mainly moderate in force. Weather fair to cloudy, with isolated showers on the coast. Temperatures cold. Seas moderate. Following is the Dominion forecast: Weather rather changeable in the far south and in the Hawke’s Bay and Poverty Bay area with isolated showers, but improving; elsewhere continuing fair to fine. Temperatures cold with sharp frosts inland. General Situation: There is little change in the situation. An anti-cyclone is centred near the West Coast of the South Island, but it is losing intensity. Pressure still low to the south and the east.

Winds: Winds from the southerly quarter prevailing. Strong at times in the eastern districts south of East Cape, but gradually decreasing from the south. Force otherwise moderate. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rather rough south of East. Cape, with a considerable southerly swell; elsewhere slight or moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate south to east winds and moderate seas.

The weather in Invercargill yesterday was overcast with an occasional shower in the evening. At 1 o’clock this morning the weather was cool and calm with light rain falling. The barometer readings for the last three mornings have been as follows:— Thursday 30.19 in. Friday 30.45 in. This morning (steady) 30.45 in.
