YOUTH’S CONDITION STILL SERIOUS

The condition of Finlay Sutherland, aged 16, of Greenhills, who was admitted to the Southland Hospital on Wednesday afternoon suffering from internal injuries, was reported last night to be still serious.

MAN SUFFERS INJURIES TO HEAD

John Miller, sen., of East Gore, was admitted to the Gore Hospital suffering from injuries to his head following an accident at a Waimumu coal mine. The accident was caused by a piece of coal falling on Miller’s head. He was immediately removed to hospital and it was found that he was suffering from a depressed fracture at the base of the skull and lacerations above the left eye. A decompression operation was carried out, and it was reported yesterday morning that his condition was satisfactory.
