Isolated Showers

(Special to The Times) WELLINGTON, June 27. The following is the special Southland forecast issued by the Meterological Office: — Moderate to fresh south-westerly winds later decreasing and becoming variable. Weather mainly fair, although isolated showers are still possible. Temperatures cool. Sea moderate with a southerly swell. Following is the Dominion forecast: Weather for the most part fair to fine. Isolated showers continuing, however, in the Auckland Peninsula and on the coast in the far south. A cold night with sharp or hard frosts inland. Moderate day temperatures. General Situation: An anti-cyclone located in the central Tasman Sea is moving slowly towards New Zealand. Pressure is very low south of the Chatham Islands. Winds: Moderate to strong, but decreasing south-west to south winds. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rough north of Kawhia, but gradually moderating; elsewhere slight or moderate, but with a considerable southerly swell south of East Cape. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to strong, but decreasing southerly winds. Seas rather rough, but moderating.

The weather in Invercargill yesterday was fair. Wet weather in the morning was followed by a period of fine, but dull, weather. The evening was calm but cold.
