Mr G. H. Brittenden, farm appraiser for the State Advances Corporation, has received notice of his transfer to the West Coast. He will take up his new position early in July. Mr R. T. Maconie, who has enlisted for military service and who is leaving Invercargill today, was the recipient of a presentation at a social function given in his honour by the staff of Whitcombe and Tombs Ltd. Mr W. A. Purvis on behalf of the staff referred to the excellent qualities of Mr Maconie, asked him to accept a fountain pen and pencil companion set, and wished him a safe and speedy return to resume his duties with the company. Mr Maconie replied. The appointment of Professor E. R. Hudson as a member - of the Council of Scientific Research has been Gazetted. — Press Association.
Mr L. M. O’Sullivan, of Dunedin, who has been appointed station master at Winton, will arrive to take up his duties today.
Mr A. C. Francis, of the staff of the Waimate High School, has been appointed first assistant and senior language master at Scots College, Wellington.
