ENLISTMENTS IN SOUTHLAND

Seventy Recruits At Week-End >

60 RAILWAYMEN JOIN SPECIAL CORPS Seventy men enlisted for military service at the Invercargill Army Office during the week-end. This number included 60 members of the railway service all of whom enlisted yesterday for service in the Railway Operating Corps. The men were examined yesterday and those accepted will go into camp soon. Saturday’s enlistments included Lieutenant A. H. Robins, a member of the staff of the Southland Boys' High School.

The enlistments for Southland now total 2763.

A total of 279 recruits has enlisted at the recruiting office at the corner o£ Dee and Esk streets in the last month. More than 1000 inquiries have been dealt with by the recruiting sergeants and £9 worth of patriotic raffle tickets has been sold.
