FREEZING SCHEDULE NO CHANGE THIS WEEK No change is being made in the Southland freezing schedule for this week. The prices are as follows:— LAMBS
RISING PRICES ON LONDON MARKETS j ITALY’S ENTRY INTO WAR i GIVES FILLIP I (Received June 16, 6.30 p.m.) j LONDON, July 15. I Italy’s entry into the war gave a fresh fillip to rising prices in the comI modify markets. Tin and rubber quota- ' tions reached war-time records. Re- ! strictions on transactions in cotton I futures have been relaxed and prices | are expected to soar higher. j However, Stock Exchange investors j continue to ignore repeated recomI mendations. The Stock Exchange generally presents a firm front. Gilt—edgeds maintain their strength, but the foreign bond market suffered, Italians slumping heavily. MINING-RETURNS ARGO DREDGE (United Press Association) GREYMOUTH, Junevls. The Argo dredge returns were 36 ounces for 133 hours’ work and 12,000 yards treated. POOR PROSPECTS IN WOOL PRICES (Received June 16, 7.30 p.m.) LONDON, June 16. While rubber and tin prices are at extraordinary heights, wheat and wool offer painful prospects for producers selling on the open markets. Britain, France, Spain and Portugal are apparently the only European countries capable of maintaining imports from overseas. STOCK INDICES (Received June 15, 6.30 p.m.) LONDON, June 14.
