Fair To Fine And Cool (Special to The Times) WELLINGTON, June 16. The special weather forecast for Southland issued by the Meteorological Office is: Light to moderate northerly to westerly winds predominating and later freshening. Weather fair to fine and cool. Seas slight. Following is the Dominion forecast: For the most part fair to fine with some scattered light showers still likely in the Poverty Bay area. However, conditions gradually becoming unsettled' in the extreme south-west and south. Temperatures moderate in the north and cool in the south with frosts again tonight. General Situation: An intense anticyclone still covers New Zealand and a depression is located to the south of Tasmania. Winds: Light to moderate and variable with southerlies predominating over the Auckland province; northerly to westerly directions over the South Island. Seas (N.Z. waters): Slight but gradually rising south of Westport. Eastern Tasman Sea: Light to moderate and variable winds with slight seas in northern and central portions, gradually freshening north-westerly winds, moderate but rising seas in the southern portion. The weather in Invercargill yesterday was bright and sunny. At 1 o’clock this morning the weather was cool, calm and slightly overcast The barometer readings for this morning, Saturday and Friday, have been:—• This morning (fallirig) 30.29 in.
