NATIONAL MILITARY RESERVE
EXTENSION OF SCOPE (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 13. As already announced the Government has decided to extend the scope and facilities for the training of a number of units and sub-units of the National Military Reserve (Class II), said the Minister of Defence (the Hon. F. Jones) in an interview today. Some of these units are below their specified strength and to ensure that the number of fit men required to build these units up to the establishment prescribed are available in the localities concerned it has been decided to reopen the registration rolls and thereby give further opportunity to those returned soldiers and others, eligible but not already registered to enrol in the National Military Reserve (class II). In the meantime registrations will be accepted from those who are eligible and resident in the vicinity of, and, if required, able to attend training parades at one of the following centres: Northern Military District: Russell and Opua, Whangarei, Whangaroa, Tauranga, Hamilton. Auckland Central Military District: New Plymouth, Gisborne, Wanganui, Napier, Wellington. Southern Military District: Nelson, Picton and Blenheim, Westport and Greymouth, Lyttelton and Christchurch, Oamaru, Timaru, Dunedin, Bluff and Invercargill.
Consideration will be given at a later date to the question of registration and enrolment of others Who are not located in the vicinity of the abovementioned centres.
