TRANS-TASMAN AIR SERVICE
ALTERATION IN SCHEDULE WANTED
The schedule of the trans-Tasman air mail service came up for discussion at the monthly meeting of the Invercargill Chamber of Commerce yesterday when a circular letter was received from the Wellington chamber. In Wellington the time between the incoming and outgoing mails was short, said the letter, but southern correspondents did not even have a . short time. It was intended to approach the authorities with the request that the flying-boat’s return trip should be made later in the week than at present. The Chief Postmaster (Mr H. Miller), said that the Australian Government had a voice in the operation of the service and on the point as to what length of time the flying-boat should remain in Sydney for overhaul before its return trip to New Zealand, it was quite definite. Since the circular letter was written on May 22, the chamber considered that some development might have occurred in the meantime and it decided to write to the Wellington chamber asking if any alteration in the schedule had since been proposed.
