NEW RUDD FAMILY PICTURE

BERT BAILEY IN LEADING ROLE “Dad Rudd, M.P.,” a Bert Bailey vehicle, is Cinesound’s choice for the first production on their 1940 schedule. “Dad’s” ‘adventures when he stands for Parliament as the member for Ruddville, and a hilarious electioneering campaign, form the basis of the story. Following the family idea, so popular now with world audiences, “Dad Rudd, M.P.” will continue with the adventures of the Rudd clan and various characters introduced in “Dad and Dave Come to Town.” The latter film, sensationally received in London, was compared favourably by the English Press with the “Hardy Family” series. Many fan letters from English picture-goers have asked that this series be continued. Bert Bailey, will of course, play the role of “Dad.” This will be the famous star’s fourth “Rudd Family” film. For over 30 years, he portrayed “Dad” on the stage, and is the original creator of the role, Fred MacDonald, “Dave” and Ossie Wenban, “Joe," will also play their original parts. Barbara Weeks, beautiful young Hollywood film player, who recently arrived in Australia with her husband, Mr Lewis Parker, special representative of the Lockheed Corporation of America, will be a notable addition to the cast. ____________
