YOUNG AIRCRAFTSMAN IN COURT
ABSENCE WITHOUT LEAVE Press Association) DUNEDIN, May 27. A young aircraftsman, Joseph Jack Sutherland, appeared in the Police Court on a charge of being absent without leave from His Majesty’s Force, and on two charges of being an unlicensed motor driver. The police said that the defendant was employed at the Taieri aerodrome, part of his duties being the cleaning of a car belonging to another member of the force named Aitken. On March 18, Sutherland deserted. The defendant was arrested in Wellington on May 23. He was fined £1 on each charge of driving without a licence and was delivered to the custody of an Air Force officer on a charge of being absent without leave.
