CHILDREN’S VISIT TO THE SHOW

To The Editor Sir,—ln Saturday’s issue of your paper I see you give a list of the num-

bers of children from different country schools who had the privilege of attending the centennial celebrations at the Winter Show.

I wish to be allowed to pay a tribute to the generous-minded citizens ana public bodies, also to the Agricultural and Pastoral Association, who helped to give the school children such a right royal time at the show. It was not °ply an enjoyable trip, but a trip of educational value, and I am sure the children will never forget it. As for myself—a mother of a large family—l feel disappointed that no mention was made of this excursion in either the high or primary departments

of the Nightcaps District High School, and no attempt was made by either teachers or committee to organize a party from this school. I should like to know why. . I think that for the children to miss such a wonderful outing as this was a cruel shame. Such chances for large families come seldom. From our sister school, Winton, no fewer than 110 attended. I am sure if Nightcaps had had the chance we should not have been far short of that number.—Yours, etc., MOTHER.

[This letter was referred to the rector of the Nightcaps District High School

(Mr H. Hoskins), who said he did not wish to reply to an anonymous correspondent. If the writer had. a complaint to make she should do so through the proper channel—the school committee.]
