MINERS TO MEET MR MENZIES

ELEVENTH HOUR MOVE TO SETTLE COAL STRIKE

(Received April 28, 6.30 p.m.)

SYDNEY, April 28.

An eleventh hour move to settle the coal strike will be made at Canberra tonight when a deputation from the miners, led by their officials and accompanied by the Federal Opposition Leader, Mr J. Curtin, will state their case to the Prime Minister (Mr R. G. Menzies), who expressed willingness to hear it.

This decision is the outcome of yesterday’s session of the miners’ leaders, who declined to give any indication of the proposals which are being submitted to Mr Menzies.
