Fair To Fine (Special to The Times) WELLINGTON, April 28. Following is the special weather forecast for Southland issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington:— Moderate southerly winds. A shower or two on the coast, but the weather otherwise fair to fine, though very cold. Seas slight to moderate.

Following is the Dominion forecast:—

Weather fine in Westland, otherwise changeable and squally, with frequent showers in the eastern portions of Marlborough, Wellington and Hawke’s Bay, and occasional showers elsewhere. Conditions improving

from the south, with little change in

temperature. General Situation.—A deep depression lies to the east of the Dominion, while an intense anti-cyclone centred near Tasmania extends across the Tasman Sea on to the South Island.

Winds.—Fresh to strong and squally, with a southerly reaching gale force on parts of the east coast, but gradually decreasing. Seas (New Zealand waters). —Moderate inshore on the east coast of the Auckland province, and on the west coast of the South Island. Rough elsewhere and high at times between Banks Peninsula and East Cape, but decreasing from the south. Eastern Tasman Sea.—Strong south to south-west winds and rough seas, but wind and sea decreasing.

The weather in Invercargill on Saturday was cold, wet and stormy. Yesterday was fine and clear. At 1 o’clock this morning the weather was cool and overcast.
