MAKAREWA

ANZAC SERVICE On Anzac Day the residents of Makarewa assembled at ie school in the evening. Mr R. J. Watt marshalled the parade of returned soldiers, lodges, Scouts and school pupils. Led by the pipers, the parade marched to the hall. The chairman, Mr A. G. Weavers, introduced Mr George Agnew, who delivered an impressive address. The Rev. Rothwell conducted the service, Mrs J. Watt was accompanist, while Pipers Murdoch Watson and M. Watt played th-s lament. After the Roll of Honour had been called by Master W. Batt, floral tributes were placed on the memorial.
