(Special to The Times) ” CHRISTCHURCH, April 23. Although there was a hard frost at Riccarton today conditions were favourable for track work and one of the inside grass tracks provided excellent going after the recent welcome rain. The Wrecker opened proceedings by running a mile in Imin 47 l-ssec. Great Heart beat Haughty Lad over half-a-mile in 50 3-ssec. The former, who is by Magnus from Stout Heart by Winning Hit from Equipment, will have his first race at Washdyke on Saturday and should make a good showing. Capricious finished better than Settlement at the end of a mile in Imin 48 3-ssec. Grey Silk easily accounted for Stabilise over six furlongs in Imin 19sec. The latter is trained by J. Tomkinson for Mr A. McCaulay, who is still an inmate of the Greymouth Hospital. Blue Coat and Pink Lad ran five furlongs in Imin 4 3-ssec and Raceway, assisted by Shangri La, covered the same ground in Imin 4 2-ssec. The best run over this distance was credited to Kilrobe, who recorded Imin 2 4-ssec. She is to make her reappearance at the Amberley meeting. Ageratum, Blue Abbey and Sweet Mystery finished in a bunch, after taking Imin 4sec for the same distance. Disdain, joined by Iceland Spar near the five-furlong post, strode over seven furlongs in Imin 34 2-ssec. Wild Talk, with Great Swoop joining her at the seven furlongs post, galloped a mile pleasingly in Imin 43 3-ssec. She will be an interesting contestant in tne Timaru Cup on Saturday. Donadea ran six furlongs in Imin 16 4-ssec and Chanteur and Dispense were well clear of Eulogist after running five furlongs in Imin 45sec. Guilder took Imin 5 4-ssec for the same journey. Mr H. A. Rhind has acquired a half interest in Aggravate from his new owner-trainer, Mr H. Nurse, and the Shambles gelding will in future race in the name of the partnership.
