Fair And Milder
(Special to The Times) WELLINGTON, April 23. Following is the special weather forecast for Southland issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington:— Light to moderate northerly winds, freshening at times. Weather fair and milder, but scattered rain developing later in the west. Seas moderate.
Following is the Dominion forecast:— Weather mostly fair to fine. Isolated showers still possible, however, in districts with an easterly aspect from Hawke’s Bay northwards and scattered showers developing later in the far south-west. Weather cold again tonight, but temperatures becoming milder.
General Situation.—An anti-cyclone covers the northern Tasman Sea and New Zealand, but pressure is beginning to fall in the south. Winds.—Light to moderate and variable, northerlies predominating over the South Island and gradually freshening. Seas (N.Z. waters).—Slight to moderate. Eastern. Tasman Sea: Light and variable winds in the northern portion, with moderate northerlies in the south. Seas slight to moderate.
The weather in Invercargill yesterday was fine and sunny. The temperature was mild. At 1 o’clock this morning the weather was cool. and clear with a slight wind coming from the west.
