PATRIOTIC WORK AT POURAKINO

COMMITTEE FORMED AT GUMMIES BUSH At a well-attended meeting of residents of the Pourakino riding convened by Mr W. B. Hopcroft in the Gummies Bush Hall, it was unanimously decided to form a patriotic committee and do everything possible to assist the patriotic funds. Ways and means of best achieving this were discussed and a committee which was promised the full support of all was appointed. Mr W. B. Hopcroft was appointed chairman and Mr I. T. Gough secretary, with the following as a committee:— Mesdames J. Peterson, C. Pankhurst, W. Hamlin, Watkinson, I. Gough, Misses F. McKay, J. Reidie, and Messrs W. Prentice, Haigh, J. Fraser, T. Oliver, J. Peterson, J. Allan, E. Habgood, S. Barron, D. Hopcroft, R. McLelland and W. Hamlin. At a later meeting it was decided to hold a bring-and-buy sale in the Gummies Bush Hall on May 2. Mr T. Oliver was appointed to canvass the northern district of the riding for donations to the sale and support for the committee, Miss J. Reidie the Gropers Bush district, Mr J. Fraser the Ermedale district, Mr D. Hopcroft the Blackwater district, Mr J. Allan the Wild Bush district and Mr W. Hopcroft the remainder of the riding. It was decided to invite a representative of the Riverton Patriotic Committee to future meetings so as to permit of an interchange of ideas between neighbouring committees and prevent any clashing of dates of functions.
