YOUNG FARMERS’ CLUB VARIED AND SUCCESSFUL ACTIVITIES The Woodlands Young Farmers’ Club held its annual meeting in the Public Hall, there being a good attendance sf members with which to start the netv club year. The chairman mentioned the death of the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage) and members stood in silence as a mark of respect. In giving his report of the year’s activities the chairman gave an outline of the club’s varied and successful programme, including field days, demonstrations, lectures, debates and competitions. He also spoke of the generous help given by local bodies. The following officers were elected:— Advisory president, Mr G. Stevenson; chairman, Mr K. Hargest; secretary, Mr B. V. Butson; treasurer, Mr H. E. McKenzie; auditor, Mr C. J. Roseveare; delegates to Western District Council, Messrs J. Middlemiss, A. Campbell and L. Middlemiss. It was decided to approach Mr A. Stuart, of the Department of Agriculture, to give a lecture at the next meeting.
