PRISONER SLASHES THROAT IN COURT

MAN DECLARED TO BE HABITUAL CRIMINAL (Received April 22, 11.50 p.m.) SYDNEY, April 22. Immediately after being sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment for larceny at the Central Police Court Thomas Drury, aged 29, drew a razor blade from his pocket and in full view of everybody slashed his throat from ear to ear and collapsed in the prisoners’ dock. The police gave first aid and rushed Drury, who was declared to be an habitual criminal, to hospital.
