PARADE THROUGH STREETS

ANZAC DAY CEREMONY SERVICE TO BE HELD IN CIVIC THEATRE Anzac Day will be commemorated on Thursday and in Invercargill there will be a parade in the afternoon to the Civic Theatre, where a service will be held. A concert, consisting o£ items by well-known performers, will be given in the theatre in the evening

The units that are to take part in the parade will assemble at the Drill Hall at 1.30 p.m. and will march to the soldiers’ war memorial, where they will be drawn up in formation. The “General Salute” will be played by the Regimental Band and the Drum, Trumpet and Bugle Band of the Southland Technical College will play the “Salute after the flag is broken. “Flowers of the Forest” will be played by the Caledonian Pipe Band and the Chaplain, the Rev. Hugh Graham, will lead in prayer. During the laying of the wreaths on the monument the Regimental Band Will play “Abide With Me” and “Last Posand “Reveille” will be sounded by the Technical College Band. The general public and schools are invited to lay wreaths aftei- the citizens’ and Invercargill Returned Soldiers’ Association s wreaths have been placed on the monument. The parade will march along Dee and Tay streets to the theatre. The Rev. Hugh Graham will read a portion of Scripture at the service in the theatre and the main address will be given by Mr John Tait, of InVerCargilL , 1 h An outstanding programme has been arranged for the concert in the evening and items will be given by Mr L. E. Dailey and his pupils, Mr R. J. Laurenson, of Dunedin, Mr C. Payne, the Battalion Band and Mr L. Taylor. Lieutenant-Colonel E. F. Selby, M.C., will be the officer-in-command of the parade, which will march in the following order: Caledonian Pipe Band, South African War Veterans, Returned Soldiers, Regimental Band, the Southland Regiment, the Regimental Boys’ Band, Southland Boys’ High School Cadets, Southland Technical College Band, Technical College Cadets.
