GOOD RESPONSE TO APPEAL
SUCCESSFUL POPPY DAY CAMPAIGN
INCOMPLETE RETURNS SHOW £366 COLLECTED As a result of the Poppy Day appeal held yesterday the sum of £366 was collected in Invercargill. Several returns have yet to be received from outlying areas and it is fully expected that the final returns will be up to past years’ sales. RECORD COLLECTION AT DUNEDIN (United Press Association) DUNEDIN, April 19. The Poppy Day collection in Dunedin realized £1542/9/8, an increase of £9B/13/6 over the record amount collected last year. There are still several amounts to come to hand. RECORD SALES AT WELLINGTON (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 19. Poppy Day sales in Wellington are expected to exceed £2OOO, which is easily a record figure. At 11.45 p.m. the counting was not completed. Last year’s total was £l5OO. AUCKLAND’S APPEAL (United Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 19. The returned soldiers’ funds will benefit by more than £2224 as a result of the Poppy Day appeal. With four returns to come, last year’s record total of £2229 will be exceeded. RECORD SALES (United Press Association) PALMERSTON NORTH, April 19. Poppy day sales at Palmerston North realized the sum of £338, which is a record.
