Fair To Fine (Special to The Times) WELLINGTON, April 19. Following is the special weather forecast for Southland issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington:— Light to moderate and variable winds. Weather fair to fine and cool. Sea slight. Following is the Dominion forecast:— Weather fine in Westland, elsewhere changeable, with occasional passing showers; fair at intervals, but conditions improving from the west. Temperatures cool, with some frosts tonight in the south. General Situation.—A cyclonic depression near the Chaham Islands is moving away eastwards. An anticyclone over south-eastern Australia extends on to New Zealand. Winds.—From between south-east and south-west prevailing; strong to gale force at first in exposed positions from Cook Strait northward, but decreasing elsewhere. Seas (N.Z. waters). —Light to fresh seas, rough north of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura, elsewhere slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea.—Southerly winds, strong in the northern central portions, with rough seas, but both wind and sea decreasing. Light to moderate winds in the southern portion, with slight seas.

The weather in Invercargill yesterday was fine and the sun shone brightly for most of the day. A cold wind blew from the east.
