PATRIOTIC FUND GROWS
SOUTHLAND TOTAL NOW £6123
RETURNS FROM COUNTRY DISTRICTS
Contributions to the patriotic funds in Southland have reached a total of more than £6OOO. Of this amount, the Invercargill Metropolitan Committee has received gifts totalling £4596/11/6 and the Gore Committee has forwarded £689 to the Southland Provincial Patriotic Fund. Of the country districts, the best response has been made at Thornbury, the local committee having remitted £259. Bluff and Winton have the next highest totals. The following list shows the contributions to the provincial fund of which the town clerk of Invercargill (Mr W. F. Sturman) is treasurer:—
