QUEEN’S PARK CLUB’S ANNUAL MEETING SUCCESS OF PAST SEASON Forty members attended the annual meeting of the Queen’s Park Golf Club last night when the president, Mr G. R. Milward, presided. In moving the adoption of the annual report and balance-sheet, Mr Milward referred to the success of the past season and to the happy relations that had existed between the club members. The subscriptions were fixed at the same rate as last year. A motion was carried in appreciation of the services of the retiring members of the committee, Messrs H. W. Norris, R. T. Barnett and F. J. Perham. I Motions of sympathy with the relations of the late Messrs A. Y. Smith, a former life member, and A. Biel, a former greenkeeper, were carried. It was decided to record a minute of appreciation of the work of the retiring honorary secretary and treasurer, Mr E. H. Ball. The following officers were elected: Patrons, Messrs G. Tapper and W. S. Ayson (re-elected); president, Mr G. R. Milward (re-elected); vice-presi-dents, Messrs 0. G. Gilmour and W. G. Tait (re-elected); club captain, Mr G. E. Glennie (re-elected); deputy club captain, Mr T. J. posling (re-elected); secretary, Mr J. C. R. Fleming; treasurer, Mr L. E« Raines; committee, Messrs L. G. Algie, E. H. Ball, D. W. Cochrane, H. Edginton and P. E. Rice. SYDNEY PROFESSIONAL’S SCORE OF 60 SYDNEY, March 7. The professional golfer, W. Bolger, played an amazing round at the Oatlands Club of 60, which is 10 under par and six strokes better than the course record. He scored eight birdies and an eagle. PLAYING OF RUGBY IN WAR TIME WANGANUI COMMITTEE’S I RECOMMENDATION (United Press Association) WANGANUI, March 7. The Management Committee of the Wanganui Rugby Union decided to recommend to the annual meeting that the Ranfurly Shield fixtures be discontinued during the war. Wanganui, however, favours a continuance of ordinary interprovincial fixtures and is prepared to fulfil its annual engagements with Wellington, Hawke’s Bay, Taranaki, Manawatu and King Country. WOMAN SPRINTER CREATES RECORD (United Press Association) DANNEVIRKE, March 7. Gladys Symes, of Hastings, at Dunnevirke last evening broke the New Zealand women’s record for 75 yards, held by the late Miss D. Lumley (Auckland), by a fifth of a second, registering 8 3-ssec. The conditions were not altogether favourable.
