SPECIAL CENTENNIAL SUPPLEMENT

The early settlement of New Zealand and the extensive progress made during the century - since the colonization of the country began are extensively reviewed in a comprehensive special supplement which has been issued by The New Zealand Herald. The South Island receives generous treatment in this issue, the development of the southern provinces along with those in the North Island being outlined in detail. The supplement traces the difficulties and hardships of the early settlers and places emphasis on the 'development of highly efficient pastoral industries and the establishment of secondary industries bringing New Zealand quickly to the standard attained in countries many centuries older. The natural resources of the Dominion, scenic, agricultural and mineral, the native race and the social progress of the people are all treated in interesting style. The supplement is profusely illustrated and includes many photographs of special interest tracing the early development of the Dominion.
