GITANA LASS WINS MEMORIAL SAXON TOR’S SUCCESS IN FLYING (United Press Association) HAWERA, February 17. The Opunake Racing Club’s meeting was held at Hawera today before a big attendance. The course was good. The weather was fine and overcast. The totalizator handled £18,437 compared with £10,493/10/- last year when the meeting was held at Pihama. Following the hurdles, the stewards held an inquiry into the running of First Chapter, finding that Chaplin rode an injudicious race, but after hearing evidence they found that there was no breach of rule 282 under which Chaplin was charged.
