DROUGHT IN NEW SOUTH WALES. —The metropolitan area is threatened with water restrictions because of the absence of rain in the central and coastal districts for upwards of three months. Sydney’s main reservoirs are very seriously depleted and the water levels are lower than at any other period since 1910, when one of the worst droughts was experienced. Consumers have been warned that if no rain falls within two weeks severe restrictions must be Imposed. Conditions are equally bad in the greater part of the country, where the severe heat has taken toll of domestic water supplies. (Sydney.)
