FEATURE OF BEACH CARNIVAL

MOTOR-CYCLIST TO RACE

MOTOR-CAR

Of special interest to the public at the Oreti Beach carnival to be held on Saturday will be a challenge race between a motor-cycle and a motor-car over a distance of four miles. The driver of the motor-car will be W. A. Bartlett, who has taken part in many previous beach races. He will drive a Ford VB. The motor-cycle will be ridden by H. J. Munro, the Invercargill racing cyclist who recently established a new speed record for the Dominion of 120.8 miles an hour. The machine has been designed by Munro himself and is the same cycle on which he broke the New Zealand record. Munro will concede the car '4osec. Thirteen motor-cars have entered for the motor events at the carnival and there should be some keen competition.
