DUNLOP WINS TITLE FOR SIXTH TIME (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, January 5. The New Zealand chess congress finished tonight, the championship being won for the sixth time by J. B. Dunlop (Otago). His score was nine and ahalf points out of a possible 13. He won seven games, drew five and lost one. A. W. Gyles (Wellington) and I. Burry (Auckland) were runners-up, each scoring nine points. Next came R. O. Scott (Wanganui) 8 points, P. Allerhand (Wellington), K. Byer (Wellington) 7|, D. I. Jones (Auckland), H. McNabb (Nelson) 7, R. G. Wade (Wellington) 6J, E. H. Severne (Wellington) 51, D. Lynch (Hastings) 5, D. Bennett, E. W. Bennett (Otago) 4|, F. Vincent (Wellington) '4, F. K. Kelling (Wellington) 1.
In the premier resever R. A. Durham (Wellington) and W. J. Fairburn (Wellington) tied for first place with nine points. Next came J. D. Steele (Wellington) Bz, R. G. C. Durham (Wellington) 8, R. L. Hardy (Wellington) 7, J. K. L. Webling (Wellington) 6, W. Dobson (Christchurch) 4|, W. Cole (Nelson) 4, H. P. Whitlock (Wanganui) 3|, A. S. Goldsmith (Wellington) 2J, J. Kirkwood (Wellington) 2£, C. Orunsden (Timaru) I>}. Mrs T. G. Short (Auckland) won the women’s championship with • eight points. Next came Miss R. Burke (Christchurch) 4, Mrs F. Vincent (Wellington) 3|, Mrs Wilson (Hutt) 21 and Mrs J. I. Goldsmith (Wellington) 2.
