(Upper): The Printed silk gown in dusty pink and dull blue suggests the high waistline with its treatment of blue stripes set together to form the bodice. The other, a flesh pink moire is definitely Empire, its waistline just below the bust. Both models by Henri Bendel, New York. (Middle right): Jean Arthur, Columbia star, wears this lovely gown with an old world charm. It is of apple green organdie with Maltese lace “epaulettes. (Middle left): It's young and it's Russian ermine with black velvet, the whole wrap being lined with white satin. There are two slashed pockets in the front pleats of the skirt. (Lower): A masterpiece of simple lines centred on the wide shaped and fitted waist is this black crepe dinner frock worn by Wendy Barry, Columbia star. The waist is accented by slight shirring on the dropped shoulder line and intricately-cut neckline. The skirt is also slightly shirred on to the waist, which itself is defined by a link belt of gold—the only trimming.
