LUMSDEN
SOLDIERS BIDDEN FAREWELL The residents of Lumsden and the surrounding district attended in large numbers to bid farewell to the soldiers on leave from camp. A pleasant evening was spent in dancing interspersed with items. ‘ _ Mr A. Heath, chairman of the Town Board, asked each of the soldiers to accept a money belt and fountain pen from the residents of the district. Messrs Wildey, J. Campbell, P. Callagan and Dr Bell also spoke. Privates F. Ross, L. Small, Williamson, A. Reidy and C. Soper thanked the speakers and residents for their good wishes and, the gifts. The following items were presented: Humorous duos, Messrs Bell and Wildey; songs, Mrs A. Reidy; recitation, Mr G. W. Johnson; songs, Mr N. McPhee; sketch, Messrs H. Nelson and E. R. Latham; songs, Mrs B. Suns; monologue, Mrs G. Latham; monologue, Mr E. Wildey. The music was supplied by Messrs Tomlin Bros., R. Haslett, R. Cook and A. Upchurch. Accompanists were Mrs A. Henderson, Miss M. Bell and Mrs Bell.
