R. dochra .e’s team at Gore. Dunedin Meeting If present intentions are carried out only one or two of the Southland horses will be raced the final day at Wingatui. Jumping Recruit Although very little has be ®?? Milford schooling, he is having done a good amount of jumping and has done it well. Kippen’s Programme Kippen is bjing asked to carry big weights in the hack events at Dunedin but it is intended to s tart. bun in the open sprint at Wyndham in which he has 7.3. Doubtful Starter Enrich is reported to be an unlikely starter at the holiday meetmgs, and may be kept in reserve for the Wellington Club meeting. Tc Hero Te Hero continues to misbehave at the barrier in Sydney, and it may soon happen that his entry will be rejected. Sovereign Lady Sovereign Lady has been getting through good useful tasks in preparation for engagements at the holiday meetings. R. J. Mackie will have the mount on her at Wingatui. A Prospect A good prospect on the Taranaki circuit will be Wynardo, who is engaged in hurdle races, and it would not be surprising to find him winning more than one event before he returns to Takanini. A Military Camp The Australian Jockey Club has received information that the Warwick Farm racecourse, at present in use as a military camp, would be required as such until July 31 at least. Rider for Shy The Wellington horseman, J. F. Nicolson has been engaged to ride Shy at the Wingatui meeting. Nicolson, who can go to the scale at about eight stone, rides over hurdles as well as on the flat. Francis Drake Former! trained at Ellerslie by F. Davis, Francis Drake is now a member of Mrs A. W. McDonald’s stable at Awapuni. He is reported to be doing well, and it is likely that he will race at the Wellington summer meeting next month.

Sailing Lady It is intended to "tart Sailing Lady in the Otago Handicap only at the Dunedin meeting, but Boswell ’.vill represent the stable in the principal events on the two later days. Sailing Lady is fighting fit at the present time and although she will start only once at Wingatui she will contest the Wyndham Cup and the principal events at the Southland meeting.

A Payable Proposition Dictate, who cost Mr M. O’Brien 50 guineas as a yearling, has now started 72 times for 11 wins, 13 seconds, and the same number of third placings, worth in all, £3785, Of this, he won more than £llOO last season without having a win. Gordon Richards Gordon Richards heads the list of successful jockeys in England for the 13th time in 14 seasons, with 155 wins out of a total of 726 races run. He has ridden 2586 winners during his career, and is only 160 winning rides behind Fred Archer’s full total. W. Nevett, the North Country jockey, was second this season with 71 firsts out of 500 mounts. Richards appeared set for another double century when the war intervened. Jedburgh Sore Earlier in the week it was not intended to start Doubleack the first day at Wingatui, but he has been paid up for in the Salisbury Handicap, in whiah his stablemate Jedburgh has been withdrawn because of soreness. Jedburgh will be taken to Wingatui with other members of McLellan’s team and if she overcomes the trouble at present affecting her she will be given a run on one of the later days. Newcomers The first visitors to appear at Wingatui are Doctor Duthie, Craiglea and Our Empire. Doctor Duthie has appeared only once this season, and ran unplaced at the Timaru spring meeting. Last season he scored a win and a second in 13 starts. He won at Otautau in moderate company, and later in the season finished second with 7.9 to Wardress 9.3 in the Temuka Hack Handicap. Craiglea has appeared three times, an " her best form was a third to Gold Don and Lady Constant at the Kurow meeting after being slow away at the start. Our Empire is a chestnut four-year-old filly by British Empire from Wingatui. She was unplaced in two starts last season.

Beaupartir Mr T. H. Lowry has won Auckland Cups with Bobrikoff and Balboa, and there had been a fairly widespread opinion in the north that he is likely to add a third with Beaupartir. There is, however, no evidence that the Beau Pere horse is a genuine stayer. His best performance against all ages was his win in the Auckland Easter Handicap, over a mile. He ran v/ell in the Metropolitan, but was tiring at the finish, and another half mile might have worried him sorely. It is not surprising that Beaupartir is reserved for shorter races at the meeting. He races well at Ellerslie, having won the St. Leger and the Easter Handicap on the right-handed course.
