CHRISTMAS POULTRY

GOOD DEMAND YESTERDAY Amid a variety of noises peculiar to vociferous poultry, Christmas buyers bid briskly for what they fancied—turkeys, geese, ducks or just plain fowls—at the Rialto auction mart yesterday. Turkeys, which were in short supply, met with a strong demand and realized good prices. There was also a good demand for a fair entry of geese. Fair supplies of table fowls and ducks were penned. Competition was steady throughout, prices being in sellers’favour. More sales will be held today and tomorrow. Following is a range of prices at yesterday’s auction: Turkeys, 15/- to 17/6; geese, 4/10 to 6/1; Muscovy ducks, 4/1 to 7/11; ducks, 2/- to 3/-; heavy hens, 3/- to 4/-; cockerels, 2/6 to 3/6; hens, 1/6 to 2/~.
