SOLDIERS’_FAREWELL FUNCTION TO BE HELD ON DECEMBER 21 At a meeting of the patriotic executive committee it was unanimously decided to hold a farewell social evening on Thursday, December 21, for all district soldiers on final leave. It was also decided to extend an invitation to all district soldiers on leave from camp, also to the relations of soldiers on final leave. Mr Lance Harper, chairman, presided, and there Was a good attendance of members. The social is to take the form of a concert programme, followed by a short address, a presentation to the men, then supper and a dance. An entertainment committee and a provisions committee were appointed. It was decided not to issue subscription lists, but to make a charge at the door of 2/6 for men, 2/6 or a supper basket for women, and 6d for all children attending a primary or secondary school. « PUPILS ENTERTAIN The final social of the year under the auspices of the pupils of the secondary department of the Wyndham District High School was held in the school when a happy time was spent in games, dancing and competitions. Master E. Rabbidge was master of ceremonies for the evening. Misses Audrey Pauli and Tui Harper played a pianoforte duet, and Miss Stevens and Mr E. S. Macfarlane were accompanists. Mr C. S. Gordon returned thanks on behalf of the staff and the parents.
