SHOWMEN’S CARNIVAL
Anothei- large crowd paid a visit to the New Zealand Showmen’s Association’s carnival in Leet street just off Dee street yesterday. The carnival has been a great success although 50 per cent, of the visitors could not show at Leet street because of the limited space. “We thank the public of Invercargill district for the wonderful support which has made the carnival a success and we wish them a merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year,” stated their representative today. This afternoon, opening at 2 p.m., will be kiddies’ day. There will be free toys and novelties and also kandy floss, peanuts and waffles. There will also be merry-go-round rides and aeroplane rides at Mr Gerrund’s Esk street carnival. These gifts will be at 4 p.m. All shows will be in full swing from 2 p.m. so bring the children and give them a treat. Sideshows will be half-price. Mr Gerrund has also given free merry-go-round and aeroplane rides from 2 to 4 p.m. only at his Esk street carnival. Tonight is the last night and it will be a big gala night as a farewell gesture to the Invercargill people. There will be gifts of streamers, confetti, balloons, jazz caps and other novelties during the night.
