What Is Being Worn This Summer
Sailors with rather higher crowns trimmed with a wide ribbon and bow are very general, worn tilted well forward, writes our fashion sleuth. The petticoat below the skirt, charming as it looks when immaculate in freshness and faultless in line, has already reached the stage of popular versus high fashion, at least in the daytime. Surah, tie silk and printed taffeta suits, often made with pleated skirt are first-rank fashion. Balenciaga’s gros grain suit with lapel finished with a large bow is seen in white, navy blue and black with contrasting bow. Print jackets, fitted at the waist, with black or plain colour pleated frocks are a pleasing summer mode. Black or navy
frocks with pale blue, cyclamen pink, yellow-beige or white hat and gloves are smart and popular.
