FREE REGISTRATION FOR SOLDIERS
ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION’S ' DECISION (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, December 5. A clearer definition of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association’s decision at its annual meeting to exempt members of the military forces from the payment of registration fees was given at the monthly meeting of the council tonight. The definition was requested by the West Coast (North Island) Centre and the council decided that exemption should apply only to those members who have enlisted for service overseas and while undergoing their training in New Zealand. “The New Zealand military forces embrace territorial forces, military bands, mounted units and so on, and we do not think it was the intention of the New Zealand Council to exempt all athletic members of these forces,” said the West Coast letter.
