BIG ENTRIES OF SHEEP
Total For Royal Show
FIGURES FOR 1934 EXCEEDED
If a check of the entries for the Centennial Royal Show at Invercargill next weeks shows that breeders of cattle, horses and pigs have responded as well as those of sheep, the success of the show should be assured. A tally of the sheep entries was completed late last night and it was found that the total for this one section was 700. This number is almost twice that for the Southland Summer Show last year and is 33 greater than for the Royal Show at Invercargill in 1934. The total entries of sheep at the 1929 Royal Show at Invercargill was 730. Entries of sheep and cattle were accepted finally by the secretary (Mr A. L. Adamson) at the Gore Show yesterday and the work of preparing the big catalogue was begun last night. The check of the cattle entries was not completed last night. More entries in the horse sections will, be accepted today and it is expected that the total number in all sections will be announced tonight. “The. entries in all sections seem to be very satisfactory,” said Mr Adamson last night. He had not been able to form an accurate estimate of any section except sheep, but from his observation of the entries as they had come in he expected that the total would be fully up to expectations.
