HOLD-UPS AT WELLINGTON YESTERDAY

WELLINGTON, December 4. Twice today and each time at a rush hour electrical defects caused an interruption to the Wellington tramway system. At 8 a.m. a defect, small in itself, in a fuse box near the railway station resulted in the holding up of long lines of. cars. The trouble was put right after a secondary trouble developed in the Lambton Quay circuit. In all about 15 minutes of delay occurred before the service moved off normally.

Shortly before 5 p.m. trams and lifts in the city were halted by a power failure which lasted for 16 minutes. The failure. was caused by trouble at a sub-station at Dannevirke, resulting in a break in the circuit between Waikaremoana and Mangahao.
