Fast Bowler Joins Up

R. J. Crisp, the South African fast bowler, who took 13 Test wickets on the 1935 tour of England, has made up his mind to take part in hostilities overseas. For this purpose, he recently worked his passage from Cape Town to Tilbury. This is one more move of that adventurous spirit which has possessed the speed merchant during the past few years (comments The Cape Times). Crisp first came into prominence in Rhodesia, and from there he migrated to Cape Town. It was as a member of the Western Province side that he was selected to tour England under Herbert Wade. The loss of Crisp to Natal and South African cricket is a serious one.
