Rapid Rise
Night Eruption, who in a matter of a few hours advanced from success in hack class to success in open company, is a mare of sound and interesting breeding. She is by Nightmarch out of Molten, and the two wins alluded to were achieved at Otaki during the week-end. Night Eruption was bred by Mr G. A. Kain. Her dam, Molten, bred by Mr J. M. Samson, is by Paper Money, whose blood is proving valuable in New Zealand pedigrees, from Lava, by Solferino from Formless, by Multiform from Dreamer, by Mostyn from Moorooroo, by Trenton from Nightmare, by Panic from imported Evening Star. Those familiar with New Zealand racing in the last two or three decades will recognize this as very solid breeding right back to Multiform, and those who have delved still deeper will recall that the Evening Star family has produced numerous good horses, many of whom have earned fame as jumpers. Through Dreamer, Night Eruption is related to Bon Reve and Havering. Through Formless (the dam of Saxon Saint), she is related to Clarion Call and Kaiwaka. Formless is the grand-dam of Paper Slipper. Dreamer was imported to New Zealand by Mr G. G. Stead. Her ancestor, Panic, left good stayers in Australia and great jumpers; in fact, as a sire of jumpers, he left a name which will be almost imperishable. Night Eruption did not beat good fields at Otaki, but she won her races decisively, and, though small, she is a smart galloper.
