TRAIN STRIKES HORSE FLOAT
MAN SUFFERS CHEST INJURIES (United Press Association) PALMERSTON NORTH, November 29. The West Street level railway crossing was the scene of yet another collision, between a motor and a train this evening, and it was a miracle that the driver of the motor-vehicle, an, empty horse float, escaped with his life. However, he lies in the Palmerston North Hospital with fairly serious chest injuries. The victim was Robert Brown, of Palmerston North, who was proceeding south as the from Wellington to Auckland was drawing into the railway yard. The horse float was struck in the middle by the big K engine with such force that while portion was thrown clear of the line, other pieces of it were driven on to the engine, to stick there.
Brown was picked up lying alongside the track.
