BOXING

HENNEBERRY’S BOUT RESULTS IN DRAW (Received November 19, 6.50 p.m.) NEW YORK, November 17. Conn retained the world’s lightheavyweight boxing title on points in a bout with Gus Lesnevich. The bout between the Australian boxer, Fred Henneberry and Abrams resulted in a draw. Henneberry was penalized in three rounds for striking low blows that hit the top of his opponent’s trunks. They were fouls under the New York State rules but would not have been, penalized in Australia or England. . The correspondent of the United Press of America, writing in The New York Times, comments that Henneberry’s American debut was unimpressive. “Henneberry’s punches were glaringly inaccurate,” he writes. The New York Herald agrees that the accuracy was deplorable and adds: “However, rugged if unspectacular, Henneberry may make trouble as soon as he learns to keep ’em up.”
