STRONACH, MORRIS & CO., LTD. TUESDAY, 31st OCTOBER, 1939 At 2 p.m. SALE OF WELL-KNOWN PUKETOI STATION ‘ STRONACH, MORRIS & CO., LTD., MURRAY, ROBERTS & CO., LTD. and DALGETY & CO. LTD., have received instructions from Mrs Watson Shennan to offer on the above date at Messrs Dalgety & Cd’s, premises, Ranfurly, the Freehold and Leasehold portions of Puketoi Station. This P r °~ perty has been in the hands of the Shennan family since 1868, and is known throughout New Zealand as one of the choice properties in Otago Central. Its flock of Merino sheep has made such a name that anyone in search of high-class Rams of this breed always endeavours to obtain the Puketoi blood. The land is suitable not only for Merinos, but also for Halfbreas and Crossbreds and will be offered in the following lots: — LOT 1. Comprises Run No. 621, containing 4,192 acres held under Pastoral License expiring in 1955; rental £l2O per annum. On this run some 400 acres have been ploughed and sown in English grass and 60 are at present in fallow which could be sown immediately by a buyer if desired. The whole run 1S subdivided into 11 paddocks and blocks. With this Run is included a block of 1,090 acres Freehold land which is divided into 11 paddocks. About 90 acres are in English grass, 40 acres in Lucerne and 30 acres in fallow. On the Freehold is erected the Homestead, the buildings of which comprise 12-roomed house, large wool shed, shearing quarters with dining-room, kitchen and bath-room, men’s cottage, stables, chaff-house, implement shea, 3 roomed men’s hut, dip, sheep-yards, etc. A water supply is laid on from a stream to the house. Both the Run and the Freehold are permanently watered in most of the paddocks, partly by a creek and partly by a lagoon which for very many years has never been known to go dry. A IJ/? - gether this Lot makes a very desirable proposition, being well . balanced for winter and summer grazing. LOT 2. Comprises 634 acres Freehold, of particularly- good land, subdivided into four blocks. About 200 acres have been ploughed and the balance is in its natural state. 20 to 25 chains of fencing are necessary between this block and Lot 1. The block is permanently watered by the Taieri River, and on the higher portion, water can be obtained by 5 to 6ft sinking. This is a block which should attract buyers in search of some of the exceptionally good land of the Maniototo District. This portion of the subdivision is most suitable for running Crossbred Ewes for the fattening of their lambs, and also for a considerable number of cattle which finish remarkably well on the portion adjoining the river. LOT 3. 237 acres Freehold, is all in its native state and is permanently water by the river. It is ring-fenced and all in one block. LOT 4. In addition to the above will be offered three sections at Waipiata, close to the Saleyards, which have been used as holding paddocks. The area is 12 acres and these will be offered in one lot. The whole of the Station is being offered for bona fide sale with the exception of one Run and 10 acres Freehold which have been reserved for the present manager. Possession will be given to buyers on March, 27, 1940, prior to which a clearing sale of stock and plant will be held.
