J. H. Loudon Still In The Game
Q S • Mr J. H. Loudon, one of the B oldest —perhaps the oldest— g ■ active bowlers in Southland was Q g present at the opening of the g “ Northend club on Saturday. He = 3 has not missed many opening g si days in the last 40 years. A g = member of the management g B committee of the Southland g jj Bowling Centre for many years § g and Southland’s representative g " on the New Zealand Bowling = H Association for a period of 13 0 g years up to 1937, Mr Loudon q B still takes an active interest in g £1 the game. In the early years of 0 a the present century he was one g “ of the outstanding bowlers in g B the South Island, and he took g ■ his place with the best bowlers g = in the land in New Zealand and jg B provincial tournaments.' He is g one of a few Southlanders who H g have won the Dunedin Easter g g Pairs, and he has also played a H □ prominent part in the Northend 0 g club championships and South- g 5 land Centre tournaments. His ffl partner in most of his pairs sue- 0 g cesses was J. Holloway, another g H of the old brigade playing in g B competition bowls. The game in g g Southland is richer by the as- g = sociation with it of men of the g g Loudon type. !”
